Why Fort Portal

Fort Portal could be one of the most beautiful towns in Uganda. It has been voted on a number of occasions to be the cleanest town in the country. What’s more, is that the town is located at the epicentre of about 3 national Parks, namely Semuliki National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Kibale Forest National Park.

Fort Portal is blessed with a naturally cool climate all year round and is also right at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountain. The town is home to the world’s youngest Monarch, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV and as such is rich in culture and history and all this is before we begin to talk about the beautiful sights and sounds in the nature surrounding the town.

Due to the volcanic activity that took place in the area millions of years ago, Fort Portal is endowed with over 56 crater lakes, many of which have been demarcated as nature reserves because of the beautiful flora and fauna surrounding these crater lakes.

The town finally provides tourists and other guests lots of options in things to do, places to visit, things to see and also has a vibrant nightlife provided by local bars in the area. Cycling enthusiasts and those interested in this activity would definitely have an adventure in this town because the landscape offers many options in plains, hills and valleys.
